Ember — Privacy Policy

Ember ("the app", "we", "us") is an AI roleplay chat application. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices. By using Ember you agree to this policy.
Who the app is for
Ember is intended for adults. Some content and an optional NSFW (18+) mode are restricted to users who are 18 or older. The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and underage sexual content is strictly prohibited and blocked.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address (via email sign-up or Google Sign-In). We do not receive your Google password.
- Your conversations. When you are signed in, the chat messages you send and the AI replies are stored so they sync across your devices. If you use the app without an account, your chats stay only on your device.
- Preferences. Settings such as theme, font, age confirmation, and content preferences are stored on your device.
- Characters you create. Personas, greetings, and images you create or upload are stored to provide the feature; uploaded images are kept private to your account.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not sell your personal data.
How we use your information
- To provide the chat experience and generate AI responses.
- To sync and back up your chats when you are signed in.
- To keep the service safe (for example, blocking prohibited content).
- To authenticate you and operate your account.
Third-party services
- Supabase — authentication and secure storage of your account and synced chats. See supabase.com/privacy.
- OpenRouter / AI model providers — the messages in a conversation are sent to an AI model provider to generate replies. Do not share information you consider sensitive. See openrouter.ai/privacy.
- Google Sign-In — used only to verify your identity if you choose to sign in with Google. See policies.google.com/privacy.
Data retention & deletion
Your synced chats are kept until you delete them or your account. You can delete individual chats in the app (swipe to delete or the select-to-delete tool). To delete your account and all associated data, sign out and email us at the address below requesting deletion, and we will remove your data.
Security
Data in your account is protected with row-level security so that only you can access your own chats. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Ember is not directed to children. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
